Biography

Pattie Schultz

Growing up, Pattie’s grandmother used to call her a pack peddler. Little did Pattie know then that this is an essential trait for a genealogist. As an only child for the first 10 years of her life, she spent much of her time in the company of adults hearing many family stories, learning a smattering of Finnish, and decorating the family graves on Memorial Day and Labor Day. In the late 1990’s a friend developed an interest in genealogy, 10 years later Pattie is still researching; her friend’s interested lasted 1 month.

Pattie is an active member in the Pasco County Genealogy Society and also belongs to the many other genealogy societies in the Chicago area where she has published articles on her research. Over the last few years Pattie realized that skills and software knowledge that she had taken for granted and used were not widely known by other researchers.

When Pattie met Pam the two of them started talking not only about genealogy but how they did their research, and writing and publishing. While they both had their own slant on how to do things, the one thing they had in common was technology. What they hope to do now is share some of their technology tricks and pass on a few tips.

Pamela Treme

Having been born and raised in New Orleans, Pam has a natural affinity for old things--including old long-forgotten relatives. She started pursing information on her Scots-Irish relatives in Illinois casually in the early 1990's. In the late 1990's, she got serious. She joined the Randolph County Genealogy Society and began collecting every scrap of McKee-related information she could get her hands on.

As Pam pursued a career as a technical writer, she moved from one southern city to another. At each stop along the way, she was able to barter research services with members of the Randolph County Genealogy Society for yet more information on the McKee family and its many durative lines.

Currently, Pam lives in Land O' Lakes, Florida and works as a writer for a commercial software company. She is an active member of both the Randolph County Genealogy Society and the Pasco County Genealogy Society. As a writer, she is a frequent contributor to the Randolph County quarterly publication, The Trails. And, you may have seen her name attached to articles in April 2006 and June 2007 issues of Rootsweb's Weekly E-zine. As a presenter, she teams up with Pattie Schultz to deliver presentations that explain how you can use computer technology to aid you in the pursuit of dead folks...sometimes live ones too.

Pam has two genealogy books in the works at the moment. She hopes to finish and publish them soon. Her ambition is to publish a series of books that explain who the McKee's were and a bit about the times in which they lived.
