Rodney Eugene Skinner was born on February 10, 1960 in Fort Myers, FL and went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2008. He passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side.Rodney was a native of Fort Myers and a graduate of N. Fort Myers High School. He was a family man, avid hunter and outdoorsman. He worked at Johnson Engineering as a land surveyor for the past 28 years. Rodney will be best remembered for his huge heart and enthusiasm for life. He loved playing the guitar, banjo, and singing and was a member of a band for many years. He will always be remembered as a "good ol boy" who was proud of his southern heritage. He loving person, wonderful father, grandpa, brother and friend to many.For many years he had researched extensively his family genealogy that allowed him to meet distant relatives and learn about his ancestors. He loved to tell stories about his family. Rodney was preceded in death by his parents Lersey and Inez Skinner and a brother Roger Skinner. He is survived by his Fiancée Jacqueline Rappold, one daughter Tonya Skinner of Cape Coral, his son Jason (Shelly) Skinner, Tallahassee, three grandchildren Jesup, Devin, and Dillon that he adored, brother James David Skinner, N.Fort Myers, sister Judy Ramirez, Juanita, Aunt Mary and several nieces and nephews and great nephews.The family will receive friends Tuesday May27, 2008 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 Pine Island Rd. A celebration of his life will be 2:00pm Wednesday May 28, 2008 at Grace Church 13 SE 21st Place Cape Coral with burial in Fort Myers Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to Hope Hospice in his name.Coral Ridge Funeral Home is assisting the family.
