Charlotte County - (1921) Charlotte County was established April 23, 1921 after being seperated from Desoto County. Punta Gorda, the capital and the only city in the county was incorporated December 7, 1887.

Collier County  (1923) - The first County Government was located in Everglades City. It remained there until 1966, when it was moved to Naples. The vision of some very determined people, the advent of the railroad, and the Tamiami Trail, hewn through swampland from Tampa to Miami, set Naples on the path to becoming today one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. A dredge used to build the Trail can be seen at the Collier Seminole State Park, located 17 miles southeast of Naples.

Desoto County - (1887) -Desoto County was first conceived on May 15, 1887 and confirmed a county in April 1887. It was named after the Spanish explorer, Hernando DeSoto. It was cut out of Manatee Co with the county seat in Pine Level.

Glades County - - Florida INDEPENDENT History & Genealogy - Affiliated with the American History & Genealogy Project

Glades  (1921) County - Glades County was formed in 1921 from Desoto and named for the Everglades it borders. The county seat is Moore Haven

Hardee County Hardee County detached from DeSoto April 1921. The migration south includes many families from this area.

Hendry County Hendry County lies on the southern shore of Lake Okeechobee and touches the banks of the Caloosahatchee River. This is the Everglades - River of Grass. While the land and waters are ancient, the county is young and remains agricultural. Hendry County is the site of the Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation. Hendry was formed from Lee County on May 11, 1923. This site resides on the Rootsweb server.
