Caloosa Belle, Feb 2 2006 -- Ruth Whitt Eades, age 86, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006 in Okeechobee. Ms. Eades was born Sept. 9, 1919 to John David and Maude Whitt. She was retired from Burdines, having come to Florida from South Carolina in 1947. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Okeechobee. Ms. Eades is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth (Tony) Anascavage of Okeechobee; three sons, William (Cheryl) Eades of Miami, John R. (Gail) Eades of Belton, S.C., and Harry (Amiee) Marsh of Eustis; five granddaughters, Terri (Joe) Helfinstine, Cheryl Ann Eades, Jeannie (Steve) Storey, Tracye (James) Mickel, and Stacy (Dean) Christophers; two grandsons, Clifford (Kristy) Marsh and Allan Marsh; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bertha Nichols and Nancy Lorenz both of Piedmont, S.C., and two brothers, William Whitt of Piedmont and Joel (Thula) Whitt of Belton, S.C. Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 3, 2006 from 9 until 11 a.m., with funeral services following immediately after at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Okeechobee. Interment will be at Ortona Cemetery. Pastor Randy Huckabee from First Baptist Church will officiate.

FORT MYERS NEWS-PRESS, July 18, 1940-- Mrs. Susan Easterlin, 70, well-known Bonita Springs resident, died Wednesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leland Miller on Madison Avenue, after a long illness. Mrs. Easterlin came to Lee County from Orangeburg, S.C., more than 20 years ago and had lived many years at Bonita Springs. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Bennie Easterlin; three sons, Hal, Noma, Fla., Monnie, Day, Fla., and Howard, Bonita Springs; three daughters, Mrs. Miller, Fort Myers, Mrs. L. M. Morgan, Fort Pierce, and Mrs. O. L. Stroud, Bonita Springs; and one sister, Mrs. L. C. A. Roesler, Orangeburg, S.C. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Thursday at the Lawrence A. Powell Funeral Home. Rev. J. F. Yancey and Rev. Leroy Crider will officiate. Services will be held afterwards at the graveside in Bonita Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers are R. A. Fort Myers News-Press, Feb 6 1999-- Robert Evans Easterly, 88, of Ocala, formerly of LaBelle, died February 4, 1999 at Ocala. He was born in TN, moving to LaBelle in 1949. He was a member of the Oak Grove Holiness Church at Muse. Survivors include a son, Robert C. Easterly of Ocala; grandsons: Robert C. Easterly, Jr. of Fort Myers, David J. Easterly of Naples, William H. Easterly of Ocala; brothers: Jacob Easterly of Muse, Seldon Easterly of LaBelle, Tivis Easterly of Naples; sisters: Jesse Farabee of Punta Gorda, Olive Parsons of Burg, LA, Naomi Thigpen of Ortona, Eldora Walker of Kingston, AL and ten great-grandchildren. Caloosa Belle, 30 Nov 2006-- Seldon Pheonix Easterly, age 80, former longtime resident of both Naples and LaBelle, passed away Nov. 21, 2006, at Hope Hospice of Bonita Springs. He was born on a house boat in Naples on June 30, 1926, to Charles and Daisy Easterly. Mr. Easterly served his country in the Phillippines. Mr. Easterly was a man who "never" met a man he didn't like and he was a friend to one and all. He loved his family and he didn't mind showing it. He always had a good story to tell and loved children of all ages. He loved to tinker and whistle and you could always find him from listening for the whistle.He is preceded in death by his wife: Vivian; four brothers: Edward, William, Robert and Tivis; four sisters: Lillian, Mable, Nell and Juanita and great-grandson: Jacob Williams.Mr. Easterly is survived by one brother: Jacob Easterly of Alabama; four sisters: Olive Parsons of Louisiana, Eldora Walker of Arkansas, Jessie Farabee of Florida and Naomi Thigpen of Florida; four children: Heidi of the Philippines, Berlene Skinner of Florida, Keith Easterly of South America and Selda Easterly of Florida; nine grandchildren: Nick Ancheta and Floribel Ancheta, both of the Philippines, Catherine Rushing, Tyler Skinner, Amanda Wallace, Piper Obregon, Dustin Williams, Rachel Easterly and Amber Easterly, all of Florida and six great-grandchildren: Miranda Williams, Kale Rushing, Isaac Williams, Tara Wallace, Aiden Obregon and Nivea Skinner, all of Florida.A graveside service was held Sunday, November 26, at Ortona Cemetery with Reverend Sammy Co officiating. Following the services at graveside, family and friends gathered at The International Christian Fellowship Church, 233 Clark Street in LaBelle for a memorial celebration of life.

A native of Marion, Ohio, Mr. Eblin came to this area in 1964 from Columbus, Ohio, where he retried from the railroad. He was preceded in death by his son, Benny Eblin, in 1985 and then his first wife, Dorothy, in 1986. Survivors include his wife, Martha Eblin of No. Ft. Myers; his daughter, Janice A. Clark of Franklin, N.C.; his three sisters, Catherine Hatton of Columbus, Ohio, Margurite Travis of Johnstown, Ohio, Mary Ann Pumphrey of Circleville, Ohio; his two brothers, Clarence Eblin of No. Ft. Myers, Frank Eblin of Columbus, Ohio, 9 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Eral J. Eddy, a son, Jack, a daughter, Erline, her mother, Mrs. Addie V. Anderson, a sister, Mrs. F. W. Binkey of Tampa, and a brother, J. C. Anderson. Fort Myers News-Press, 7 May 2006 -- Fred Hyman Edenfield, Jr., 68, died at HealthPark on May 5, 2006. Fred was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on December 20, 1937, and moved to Southwest Florida in his youth. Fred was preceded in death by his father, Fred H. Edenfield, Sr., and he is survived by his mother Mae Wester Edenfield, formerly of Immokalee and now of Cypress Cove in Lee County. Through Fred's father, his love of the Boy Scouts of America and flying began in Immokalee. Fred was a 1955 graduate of Immokalee High School where he was Valedictorian of his class. He was a 1959 graduate of the University of Florida. He returned to Fort Myers to begin his accounting career. Later, he was managing partner of Taylor, Edenfield, Gilliam and Wiltshire which merged with Coopers and Lybrand. He was managing partner of the local C&L office as well as a member of the Firm Council in New York City. Fred was a member of the Florida Institute of Public Accountants, served on the Board of Accountancy as a member and chairman, and a member of American Institute of CPA's. He served on the Board of Lee County Electric Cooperative. During his professional life, Fred served as president of Untied Way, Boy Scouts of Lee County, Kiwanis, and other organizations. He was treasurer in the first Congressional campaigns of Connie Mack and Porter Goss. He was a life member of the Rotary Club of Lee County and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was on the founding board of Canterbury School. His wife Paul Susan Medlock Edenfield of Fort Myers survives him. Other survivors include his daughter Danette (Rex) Shevitski, grandchildren Ashley and Christopher Carter, Rex Shevitski; Daneese (Bill) Buchinsky, grandson Joey Buchinsky; his son Wayne (Elena) Putnal, grandchildren Miranda, Connor, and Haley Putnal; his son Franklin (Kristie) Putnal, granddaughters Ashton and Leah Putnal. His sisters LaVerne May of Immokalee and her family, and Charlotte (Gerald) Crawford of Franklin, NC and her family. Fred had a host of friends whom he considered family. His service will be at First Baptist Church on Monday, May 8, 2006 at 1 PM. Dr. Winford Hendrix will conduct the service with burial at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens on 1589 Colonial Boulevard immediately following the service. Fort Myers News-Press--Sept 3, 2009-- Cortez L. "Corky" Edwards passed away on August 29, 2009 after a brave battle with skin cancer. Corky was born May 25, 1928 in Alva, Florida to Dewey and Mary (Thigpen) Edwards. He lived most of his life in Fort Myers and worked 42 years in the Bread business, first for Southern Bread later for Continental Baking (Wonder Bread) as Branch Manager when he retired and moved to Lakeport. There he was able to work in his yard and enjoy fishing with his kids and grandchildren. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge.Corky is survived by his son Ronald L. Edwards (Pam) of Fort Myers, daughter Susan Gentry (Jack) of Sebring, and his grandchildren, Ronald L. Edwards, Jr., Karla Edwards, Mike Edwards all of Fort Myers, William Gentry, Jr., Kevin Gentry of Sebring and sister, Ruth Gulsby of Pensacola. He was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Ruth (Shorty) Edwards, sister, Helen Edwards and brother, George Edwards. Cremation is being handled by Buxton Funeral Home of Okeechobee. The Charlotte Observer Jan 14, 2009 Betty Jane Spencer Edens, of 5423 Wintercrest Lane in Charlotte died Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Presbyterian Hospital after a prolonged illness. Betty was a long time Charlotte community member. She was raised in Fort Myers, Florida and graduated from Fort Myers High School in 1942. Betty was an important contributor to the community growth of the Park Dale and Barclay Downs neighborhoods in Charlotte and worked with the fashion industry at the Charlotte Merchandise Mart. In more recent years, Betty had been active in the Library and Prayer Groups of the Myers Park Baptist Church, where she had been a member since 1951. Betty is survived by her son, Steve Edens and his wife, Myra, and their three children, Brandon, Jeremy, and Carrie. A memorial service will be held at the Myers Park Baptist Church on Friday, January 16th at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Myers Park Baptist Church Library in memory of Betty Jane Spencer Edens, 1900 Queens Road, Charlotte, NC 28207. J.B. Fort Myers News-Press May 10, 2009 ELLIOTT, Edna Young, 62, passed away Friday, April 24, 2009, at Melech Hospice House, Tampa. Born October 28, 1946, in Port Jefferson, N.Y., she moved with her family to Del Ray Beach, Fla., where she graduated from Seacrest High School in 1964. Edna earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education, a Master of Arts degree in education, and a Juris Doctor degree, all from the University of Florida. Edna practiced law in Tampa from 1975 until her passing, and was admitted to practice before all the courts of the state of Florida as well as the Supreme Court of the United States. She was board certified by the Florida Bar in marital and family law, and was a fellow in The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. She also achieved an AV rating, which is the highest rate in Martindale Hubbell, an attorney peer rating system. Edna served as a director of Mental Health Care, Inc., for many years. She is survived by two sons, Christopher Shannon Wilson and Justin Paul Elliott; friend, and father of Justin, Paul Sidney Elliott; her father, Edwin W. Young; and brothers, Edwin W. Young Jr., Timothy Young and Bruce Young. She was predeceased by her mother, Edna Siebert Young and sister, Joyce Young Clements. In accordance with Edna' s wishes, there will not be a gathering of her family members and friends. Donations, however, may be made in her honor to LifePath Hospice, Melech House, 12973 N. FORT MYERS NEWS-PRESS, Dec. 12, 1932--Frank Edwall, brother-in-law of Dr. Guy A. Longbrake, died at the Lee Memorial hospital last night. The body will be sent to Denver, Colo., for burial by L. W. Engelhardt & Sons. Mr. Edwall, who was 72 years old, has been a resident of Fort Myers since last February. He came here from Denver, where he had been in the hotel business for many years. He had been ill for some time. Survivors include his sister, Mrs. Guy A. Longbrake, and a half brother, Harry W. Nelson of Galesburg, Ill.

Eddie was born in Alva, FL and is a fourth generation Alva resident, and worked for 34 years with Florida Power & Light. Eddie is survived by sons James Dell Edwards of Lehigh Acres, Edward Wayne Edwards of Buckingham, Steven Eugene Edwards of Lehigh Acres, Paul C. Evans of Ft. Also surviving him are sisters Eunice Hasley of Alva, Joyce Harrison of Lake Placid, Luann Murphy of Alva, brother Fred Edwards of Buckingham and 8 grandchildren. Fort Myers News-Press, 2004-10-24 - Frieda Carlton Edwards, 87, passed away Thursday October 21, 2004. Frieda was born May 28, 1917 in Wauchula, Florida the fifth child of C.J. and Mattie Carlton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Heard M. Edwards. Frieda graduated from Hardee County High School and attended what is now Florida State University. Frieda is survived by two children, Charles B. Edwards (Sass) and Martha Zehner, four grandchildren, Berk Edwards (Charlotte), Scott Edwards (Jennifer), Stephanie Foshee (John) and Robbie Zehner, six great-grandchildren, Alex Edwards, Emily Edwards, Jessica Edwards, Scottie Edwards, Hunter Zehner, and Clay Foshee. Frieda was extremely active in her community, serving as President of the Ft. Myers Women's Community Club, the Southwest Florida Community Foundation and the Edison Park PTA. She served on the Board of Directors of Lee Memorial Hospital and was a founding Director of the Community Bank of Cape Coral. She was active in the Edison Garden Club, Key Investment Club, Elizabeth Benevolent Society and the First Baptist Church of Ft. Myers, where the congregation will remember her as a frequent greeter at the front door. Along with her family Frieda's interests include fishing, bridge, and collecting antiques, specializing in crystal and furniture. FORT MYERS NEWS-PRESS, Nov. 23, 1936--Mrs. Harriet Edwards, 77, died yesterday at Lee Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Charles Bauman. The body was shipped to Greene, N. Y., for services and interment. Mrs. Edwards and her daughter had arrived in Fort Myers two weeks ago to spend the season. Lawrence A. Powell had charge of arrangements.

Fort Myers News Press, 2004-11-20 - John Edwards, 85, of Ft. Myers, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2004. Moving from Connecticut, he has been a resident here since 1981. John was born January 15, 1919 in New Britain, Connecticut, the only child of John and Mary Katherine Kelly Edwards. He was a graduate of New Britain High School and the Morse Business College. A veteran of WWII, Mr. Edwards served in the US Navy. John and his wife Laura were longtime residents of Plainville, CT where he owned and operated Abel Transmission, Inc. until his retirement in 1981. He was an innovative saver as he opened a savings account for each of his grandchildren at their birth and contributed $1.00 per week per grandchild until they each graduated from college, where upon he presented them with the balance and swore them to secrecy so that none of the others were aware of his secret until they all graduated. He was an avid reader and a world traveler. John was also a volunteer at Lee Memorial Hospital in the Post Office for many years in his retirement. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 63 years Laura Mae (Ripple), and his loving children, sons, Thomas W. Edwards and wife Cynthia of Newport, Maine, Richard Edwards and wife Concetta, Mark Edwards all of East Hampton, Connecticut six grandchildren; Elizabeth Boyd, Robert Edwards, Jessica Lyons, Andrew, Eric and Amanda Edwards. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 22, 2004 at 10:00 AM at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. A luncheon in his honor will be held at the Whiskey Creek Country Club, 1449 Whiskey Creek Dr., following the services. He was a native of Norway. Mr. Egedall had operated a small truck farm while in Fort Myers. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Lawrence A. Powell chapel with the Rev. William Graham Kennedy officiating. Pallbearers will be H. L. Ault, F. W. Arnold, Hans Hanson, Walter Wood, Charles McWilliams and Colonel Halgrim. Internment will be in Fort Myers cemetery. Fort Myers News-Press-2004-06-09 -- A memorial service for Capt. Daniel William Eggers, 28, will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday in St. Andrew Church, 2628 Del Prado Blvd., Cape Coral. He died May 29 while serving his country in Afghanistan. A burial service is planned for June 22 at Arlington National Cemetery. Born July 15, 1975 in Pueblo, CO, he spent his early years in Hollis, NH, until moving to Cape Coral in 1987. He graduated from Cape Coral High School in 1993. He earned a history degree from The Citadel in Charleston, SC. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army infantry in May 1997. He was stationed at Fort Stewart, GA. He began special forces training in July 2001 and earned his Green Beret in February 2003. He was deployed to Afghanistan in April 2003 and returned to the United States in October 2003. He was deployed again in April. He spent his life and his time in Special Forces helping others become what they often thought they could not be. His dedication inspired every person he came in contact with. For that, he will forever be remembered. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca, and sons, John and William, all of Fort Bragg, NC; his parents, Margaret and William Eggers of Cape Coral; five siblings in Cape Coral, Anne Marie, Stephen, Maris, Mary Jeanne and Rose Mary; and a brother, William, who awaits deployment to Iraq with the U.S. Army, 24th Infantry Division.

Ellard, two daughters, Petra and Sorina, two stepsons Michael and Mathew and her sister Ecaterina. Elena came to America from a small country Moldovo. She was pregnant with Petra at the time and wanted Petra to be born American to have all possibilities for her. She has been with Michael for 7 years and married for the past 3 and together were deeply passionately in love. Elena was a strong character. She wanted everything from life for both her family and herself. She was a person with a huge heart and tried to help all she knew. When she smiled, she lit up the world. She had just decided that she wanted to become a Lee County Sheriff Deputy in order to help people. Elena was the Most Golden Woman inside and is watching over all of us from above. Ft Myers News-Press, May 15, 2001 - On May 12, 2001, the kind and loving spirit of Robert Frederick Ellegard, 81, returned to the Lord after a long and courageous battle with Diabetes and Heart disease. Before moving to Fort Myers, Florida seven years ago, he previously lived in Rocky Hill, Connecticut He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Eliason) Ellegard for the past 58 years. Before retiring, he was a teacher for 35 years, teaching at Porter School of Engineering Design for 23 years and Emmett O'Brien Technical High School for 12 years. He was an Air Force Veteran of World War II and a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He was also a member of the South End Athletic Club, where for many years he had the pleasure of enjoying time with his brothers and friends. Before his blindness, he was an avid fisherman and hunter, and past secretary of the Middlefield Fish and Game Club. Besides his loving and devoted wife, he leaves behind to mourn him two loving daughters and a son-in-law, Beverly E. and Ed Collins of Rocky Hill, Ct. and Ft. Myers, FL, and Barbara L. Gburski of Ft. Myers Fl.; two loving grandchildren, Brian Robert Gburski and Elizabeth Regina Gburski, both of Ft. Myers, FL.; and several nieces and nephews. Fort Myers News-Press 29 May 2006 Allen Richard Ellis III, 18, known to family, loved ones and friends as "Chip", passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2006. Chip was born on June 15, 1987 in Naples, Florida, and was set to graduate from Midlothian High School on June 14, before he met an untimely death. Chip's life was filled with bright dreams for the future. Those plans included working at Robious Sports and Fitness Center and attending John Tyler Community College this fall. Chip was a thoughtful young man with a deep love for his family. At the Midlothian Family YMCA, he was active in many programs, having volunteered more than 550 hours. He especially loved working with children. Chip helped start the Midlothian Branch Leader's Club, a group for teens that cultivates leadership and volunteerism- Chip was a five-year Leader, having been a member in Naples, Florida, before moving to Midlothian. He was honored in January by the YMCA of Richmond as a Community Role Model. The family moved to the Florida Keys during her early childhood and in 1964 relocated to Lehigh Acres where she graduated from Alva High School. Before her retirement in 1997, Penni was employed as a data entry clerk at the Lehigh Acres Elementary School. She was a member of St. Anselm Episcopal Church. As a loving wife, mother and grandmother, family was most important to Penni. Myers, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at the Bay Pines Veterans Affairs Medical Center, in St. Petersburg, FL after battling several illnesses. He was born in Mt. Helen, TN on July 5, 1942 to the late William M. and Leona B. Ellis. He was predeceased by his sister Zelma Long and brothers Winford, Casto, Stanford, Vonel and Danny Ellis. Stanley moved to Ft. Myers in 1951, attended Ft. Myers High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He had a varied career, sometimes working at the Snack House Restaurant for his brother Win. For most of the last 30 years he worked in the oil industry in Texas and Oklahoma, returning to Ft. Myers in the spring of 2004. Stanley enjoyed golfing and hunting, but never realized his dream of full time RV'ing after retirement. Stanley was a member of Riverside Baptist Church of Ft. Myers, FL. Stanley is survived by his loving wife, of 36 years, Sharan of Ft. Myers; daughter Shana Blevins and her husband Eric Blevins, grandchildren Autum, Aspan and Leif Blevins, all of Edmond, OK; sister Wilma Hicks, brothers and their wives, Vernon and Mary Nan Ellis, Verdon "Cotton" and Helen Faye Ellis, Ray and Carole Ellis, all of Ft. She moved to Lehigh Acres in 1977 from Lakewood, OH; and during her working years was a retail sales clerk for auto parts. Fort Myers News-Press Tracy D. Ellsworth, age 39, of N. Fort Myers, Florida passed away on October 26, 2007. Tracy was born in Ft. Morgan, Colorado. Her father passed away when she was 12. Her mother remarried and the family moved to Bonita Springs. Tracy graduated high school, then worked in a deli and taught aerobics. She then went to work for 5-7-0 Shops where she won an award for being the youngest "Manager-of-the-Year" throughout the whole country. Tracy married George B. Ellsworth 10 years ago in Jamaica. They lived in Fiddlesticks fro 8 years; then they moved to 20 acres in N. Fort Myers to be with all their animals. Tracy volunteered at many wildlife sanctuaries, but her favorite one of all was the Octagon Wildlife Sanctuary in Punta Gorda. She was in charge of the rehabilitation of all the animals that were brought in from all over the county. She would rehabilitate them and release them back to the wild whenever possible.She loved her family, her friends and her animals. She loved to cook and entertain. She would have parties and work for days preparing everything from bread to dessert. She will be missed by all forever.Tracy is survived by her husband, George B. Ellsworth, her step-children: Tamra Franco of LaBelle, FL, George J. Ellsworth of N. FORT MYERS TROPICAL NEWS, March 7, 1929--A sudden attack of heart trouble yesterday morning proved fatal to Ed Emerson, 75, of Brooklyn, N. Y., as he and his wife were preparing to leave a local hotel where they had spent the night to resume a tour of the state. Mr. and Mrs. Emerson had arrived here Tuesday from St. Petersburg and intended to visit Miami yesterday. They were accompanied by two friends, Mr. and Mrs. E. K. Ovliz. The body was taken to St. Petersburg yesterday by L. W. Engelhardt, and will be returned from there to New York for burial.

She moved to Fort Myers in 1949. She graduated from Fort Myers Senior High in the class of 1953. She was a past president of the Fort Myers Women's Community Club and a past board member of the Edison Pageant of Light. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and had been the Administrative Assistant of the Church for 25 years. She is survived by her husband, Charles Engelhardt; sons, Rev. Chuck (Kayla) Engelhardt, of Largo, Florida and Kevin (Jodie) Engelhardt of North Fort Myers; sisters, Anna Mae Skipper, of Columbia, SC, Ellen (Drexel) Crump of Fort Myers; brothers, Carl (Annice) Johnson of Chattanooga, TN, Clayton (Wanda) Johnson of Fort Myers, Collins (Rozelle) Johnson of Port Charlotte, and S Gee (Argean) Johnson of Fort Myers; three grandsons, Adam, Blake and Ethan Engelhardt of Largo and two granddaughters, Nikki and Hannah Engelhardt of North Fort Myers. She was not only a help to her church, she also volunteered in her community all her life. Virginia went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 7, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Waymon England and 3 grandsons. William Robert England, Jr., 80, of Buckingham, passed away March 30, 2000. He was born Jan. 19, 1920, in Avon Park, FL. He was married to Mae L. (Edson) for 55 years. 'Bob' as he was known to his friends retired from the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Postal Service. He was the last Coast Guard Lighthouse Keeper for the Sanibel Island Lighthouse. He is survived by his wife, Mae, children, Margaret England of LaBelle, and William R. England III of Sarasota. He also leaves five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Anderson of the Congregational church officiating. The body will be sent to Buffalo for burial on the train tomorrow, and will be accompanied by Mrs. Sherman DeWitt Enoch, a daughter-in-law, who was at the bedside at the time of Mr. Enoch's death. Mr. Enoch is survived by a son, Sherman DeWitt Enoch of Buffalo. He was a member of the Masonic Order in his native city.

Fort Myers News-Press, Mar 7 2005-- Edward William (Ted) Evans, Sr. passed away peacefully Saturday, March 5, at Hope Hospice in Ft. Myers. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Kate and his brother Jack. A resident of Ft. Myers for his 86 years, he graduated from Ft. Myers High in 1935 and served his country in World War II. He began his banking career in 1946 at The First National Bank of Fort Myers where he rose from bookkeeper to Senior Chairman of the Board. Until his retirement in 2003, his 58 year career followed the tenant that everyone in the teller line was important and that each individual deserved special attention and quality service. In 1986 he helped found the National Bank of Lee County, now known as Southtrust/Wachovia Bank. Ted received his crown as "King of Edisonia" from the hands of the late Mrs. Thomas A. Edison in 1947. Ted's grandmother, Carrie Evans, wife of Mr. E. L Evans, and daughter of pioneer cattle baron and political leader, Captain Francis A. Hendry was close personal friends with Mr. Edison. When Thomas A. Edison stopped by the H.L. Roan store in 1885, where Mr. E. L. E A dedicated civic leader, Ted was United Way President twice, serving on the boards of YMCA, Southwest Florida Community Foundation, The Salvation Army and other civic groups too numerous to mention. Surviving family includes his son, Ted Evans, Jr., his wife Kim and their daughter Kimberly who reside in Arcadia, Florida and a second son, Harry Stucky Evans, wife Cathy and grandsons Landon and Reese who reside in Allen, Texas. Ted also leaves behind his dear friend Dick Ackert whose friendship spanned 45 years. On Wednesday, March 9, friends may call from 5 PM to 6 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 2438 Second Street in downtown Ft. Myers. A service will be held at 6 PM. The family will make available photos and memorabilia spanning 120 years of Lee County history commemorating Ted's love of Ft. Myers during the visitation.

She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Bill Sr.She was a graduate of Florida State College for Women (FSU) and a member of the Tice United Methodist Church. She was a leader and member of numerous community and civic organizations throughout her life. She wrote a community column for many years for the News-Press, taught elementary school, and eventually retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Her death will be a shock to a host of friends who ahve known her during the many years she has made her home in Fort Myers. Mrs. Evans was a member of the Episcopal church. Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning in the Evans home, 1024 Canal street, with the Rev. F. A. Shore in charge of the service. L. W. Engelhardt and Sons are in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Evans is survived by her husband, two daughters, Miss Alta Evans and Mrs. Harry C. Stucky; a granddaughter, Miss Ellen Stucky; two sisters, Mrs. George F. Kinzie and Mrs. C. F. Chandler; three brothers, L. C. Hibble and Frank D. Hibble, sr., of Fort Myers and L. W. Hibble of Marietta, Ga. The pallbearers will be N. G. Walker, Frank D. Hibble, jr., Frank C. Alderman, jr., Ted Evans, Virgil C. Robb, C. Hunter Brown, sr., Dr. A. F. Hunter and Vernon G. Widerquist. Mrs. Evans, who was 67, was born Dec. 28, 1869 at Albion, Ill., shortly after her parents moved from England to the United States. She came to Fort Myers as a young girl with her father, william E. Hibble and his family and on Jan. 2, 1889 was married to Mr. Evans.

Ft Myers News-Press, 2 Aug 2006 -- Ima Lee Ward Evans, native Floridian and member of a pioneering Fort Myers family, died peacefully in her sleep on July 30, 2006 at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Bill Sr.She was a graduate of Florida State College for Women (FSU) and a member of the Tice United Methodist Church. She was a leader and member of numerous community and civic organizations throughout her life. She wrote a community column for many years for the News-Press, taught elementary school, and eventually retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Family and friends knew her as a loving and caring person who was independent-minded and consistently ahead of her time. Leaving to cherish her memory is a son and his wife, Bill Jr. and Cathy Evans, a daughter and her husband, Mary Ann and Tommy Lee, a granddaughter and her husband, Maggie and Mark Greenwald, 3 step-grandchildren, Tommy Lee, Jumelia Lee, and Amy Wagner, 2 great-grandsons, Mark Evans Greenwald and William Scott Greenwald and numerous nieces and nephews. FORT MYERS NEWS-PRESS, Feb. 19, 1936--Thomas James Evans,72-year-old pioneer resident, died yesterday afternoon at his home on 1024 Canal street following a short illness. Coming to Fort Myers in 1883 when it was a tiny village, Mr. Evans was for many years Standard Oil agent and was one of the best known of Lee county citizens. Mr. Evans was born in New Orleans, March 17, 1864. He was 19 years old when he came to this community on a coastwise schooner. He took an active part in civic affairs, was a member of the St. Luke's Episcopal church, Masonic lodge and Knights of Pythias. His wife preceded him in death by four months. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Martha Everett of New Orleans, two daughters, Miss Alta Evans and Mrs. Harry Stucky and a granddaughter, Miss Ellen Stucky. Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock this afaternoon at the residence on Canal street with the Rev. F. A. Shore officiating. The pallbearers will be T. H. Bigger, William Chandler, Ted Evans, Frank C. Alderman, jr., William A. Horne and Virgil C. Robb. L. W. Engelhardt and Sons have charge of arrangements.

Fort Myers News-Press Sep 10, 2009 George W. Eveleigh, Sr. 75, died Sunday, Sept. 6. Born August 12, 1934 in Buckhannon, WV, he moved to Fort Myers from Detroit in 1943. A 1953 graduate of Fort Myers High, he served with the US Army in Germany 1957-1959. A 1969 graduate of USF, he achieved certification as a CPA in 1971 & opened his own firm in 1979. Fort Myers News Press, 2005-02-19-- Thomas W. Eveleigh born February 18, 1908 in Whimple, England, died January 15, 2005. Immigrating to Detroit, MI at age 16, he came an American citizen Feb. 8, 1937. Coming to Ft. Myers in 1942, he worked at Buckingham Air Base during WWII. His surviving family include his son, George (Prudy) grandchildren Elizabeth (Joe) Erb, Bill (Jen) Eveleigh, great-grandchildren Lauren and Zachary and the staff at Cypress community Care Center. Ft Myers News-Press 12-29-2000 -- Frederick J. Evers, Jr. of Fort Myers, FL, passed away on Christmas Day 2000. He was born in Bridgeport, CT on July 31, 1917 and graduated from Harding High in 1935. A Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the "fast carrier fleet" in the South Pacific and participated in the battles of the Solomon Islands and the Marianas. He served as a Bridgeport Firefighter before running his own insurance agency in Westport, CT and later in Fort Myers. He joins his beloved wife of 50 years, Doris Connelly Evers and his daughter, Judy Hopkins. He is survived by two sons, Robert of Fort Myers, FL, Frederick of Merrimac, MA; two daughters, Beth Evers Studer of Alexandria, VA and Elyse Evers Kingery of Divonne, France; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two sisters, Marion Herb and Sally Evers both of Bridgeport. FORT MYERS NEWS-PRESS, Aug. 15, 1932--James M. Ewton, 65 year old riverman and boat builder, died at 5:30 a.m. yesterday in his home north of the river. Mr. Ewton had lived in this vicinity for 35 years, coming from Tennessee. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. W. H. Edwards at 2 p.m. today in the Lawrence A. Powell chapel. Burial will follow in the Fort Myers cemetery. In addition to his widow, Mr. Ewton leaves three sons, James M. Ewton, C. H. Ewton and H. H. Ewton; two brothers Joe D. of Fort Myers and Jeff of Mobile, Ala., and a sister, Mrs. Theodocia Vicks of Clewiston.

FORT MYERS NEWS-PRESS, Friday, Dec. 9, 1966 - Joseph B. Ewton, 89, a resident of Ft. Myers since 1906 died Thursday. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Mrs .Emily C. Ewton of Ft. Myers; sons, H. B. Ewton of New Albany, Ind., and J. C. Ewton of Portsmouth, Va.; niece, Mrs. Zelma Kuester of Ft. Myers; nephew, James Ewton of No. Ft. Myers, 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon at 4 at Leo W. Engelhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Fox officiating. The Odd Fellows Lodge will have charge at the cemetery. Burial will be in Ft. Myers Cemetery.
