FORT MYERS TROPICAL NEWS, June 5, 1927--Funeral services for eleven year old Morris Ingley, who was accidentally shot by his brother yesterday morning, will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon from St. Francis Xavier's Catholic church on Cleveland avenue. Following the services burial will take place in the Fort Myers cemetery. Moris, his brother Romeo, 13, and his nine year old sister Georgette had been playing "soldiers" with a sword and a bayonet at their home at 1930 Hendry street, above Barron's seed store. Morris opened a desk drawer and found a big .32 calibre revolver. His brother Romeo realized the danger of playing with the gun, and made Morris hand it to him so that he could remove the cartridges. There were four in the pistol, and Romeo pulled out three, thinking that he had them all. He then pulled the trigger to make sure, and Morris fell with a bullet through the back of his neck. Neighbors who heard the report and the scream of the lad hurried to the scene, and Morris was rushed to the Lee Memorial hospital, where in 20 minutes he died. It was found that the shot had severed the spinal cord and come out through the mouth, breaking two teeth. Romeo and Georgette were brought before Miss Mary Price, probation officer, to explain how the accident happened. He was absolved upon his own testimony and that of his sister. The little boy was the son of Augustus and Ilena Ingley. The father is employed as musical director of the Arcade theater. With the closing of the theater Sunday for alterations, the Ingleys were planning to leave for Los Angeles.
