We are trying something new this summer.  There will be no monthly meetings during the summer instead we have planned Research Field Trips the second Saturday of June, July and August (details below).

October Meeting

Topic:

World War II & the Human Experience Stressing Eastern Europe and the Holocaust

Speaker: Dr. William O. Oldson, Department of History FSU
Date: Tuesday, October 27, 2009
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Place: Florida State Archives Auditorium
  R.A. Gray Building - 500 South Bronough Street
  Tallahassee, Florida

Dr. Oldson will speak on the goals of the Institute on World War II and the Human Experience stressing Eastern Europe and the Holocaust. The Institute collections are rather varied and include one from a Holocaust survivor that is quite unique - several boxes of family records donated cover the period from the French Revolution to the results of World War II. His research focuses on Romanian nationalism as well as its impact on encouraging that country's enthusiastic participation on the Nazi side in the invasion of the Soviet Union and the Holocaust.
