JOHN BARTRAM CHAPTER -(#3134FL)

This chapter name honors botonist JOHN BARTRAM (1699-1777). Bartram authored "Diary of a Journey Through the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida" which documented his plant collecting in Florida during the 1760's. He was the first to classify Florida's flora according to the new Linnaean System. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin were frequent guests at his famed gardens near Philadelphia.
