VOLUSIA and FLAGLER GENEALOGICAL SOCIETIES
Volusia County Genealogical Society will meet on Thursday, Feb. 18, at 6 p.m. in the Auditorium of the City Island Library, 105 E. Magnolia Avenue, Daytona Beach, FL. Halifax Genealogical Society - The February meeting of the Halifax Genealogical Society will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. in the Ormond Beach Library Auditorium. There will be a Board Meeting at noon in Meeting Room 3. SPEAKER: Rev. A. Dale Stewart. PROGRAM: "The Hochstetler Massacre" In this program Rev. Stewart introduces his ancestor Jacob Hochstetler of Berks County, Pennsylvania. Follow Jacob's involvement in this incident of 1757 and learn something of the Amish culture. NEW FOR 2010 - Monthly Genealogical Class: February 11, 2010. "Using the United States Census" The classes will follow the general meeting, from approximately 3:00 p.m.- 3:30 p.m.. Visitors are welcome.
Roots and Branches Genealogical Society of West Volusia County meets in the auditorium of the DeLand Regional Library, 130 East Howry Avenue at 2:00 PM on the third Sunday of the month from September through June. A basic genealogy lesson is presented prior to the general meeting at 1:00 PM in the first floor conference room.
Genealogical Society of Southeast Volusia County will meet on Monday February 8, from 5-7pm. at the Edgewater Library NOTE - Venue Change Cherie Brumfield will present "Finding That Elusive Civil War Ancestor" The handout will be "Homesteading"
Genealogy Society of Flagler County in Palm Coast will hold its regular meeting at the Flagler County Public Library, 2500 Palm Coast Pwky, N.W., on Thursday February 25 at 5:30 p.m. Every Monday and Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. there will be a volunteer genealogist at the library to help those interested in researching their family history; and, anyone interested in attending our meeting is welcome. New Smyrna Beach Jane Sheldon Chapter Daughters of the American
Revolution, will meet on Monday, February 1, 2010, at the
New Smyrna Beach Regional Library at 1:30 p.m. DAR Good Citizen Chairman
Dorothy OBrien will present the Good Citizen Award to New Smyrna Beach
High School Senior Kathryn Nicole Turner. Women whose ancestors
participated in the American Revolution and desire membership in the
Daughters of the American Revolution are invited to call (386) 663-7280

The Sugar Mill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet on February 16, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the Port Orange Christian Church, 904 Taylor Road, Port Orange. Our Florida State Regent, Barbara Makant, will be the featured speaker. Please call our local Regent, Dawn Sutter at 322-1818 for further details.

The Daytona Chapter Sons of the
American Revolution will meet Thursday Feb.18, 2010 at The
Palmetto Club,1000 South Beach St., Daytona Beach, FL. Joe Cahill will
speak about George Washington, his friends& enemies, both foreign and
domestic .Please note this is a joint meeting with the Ladies of the
DAR. Social Hour11:30a.m. -Lunch 12:00 noon. Prospective members may
visit the genealogical section of the City Island Library on Friday
afternoons to meet with SAR Representatives for assistance with their
paperwork. Reservations to attend luncheons may be made by calling
