About Extractions From the First Presbyterian Church Sessions Records, 1880-1900

Compiled and Contributed by Jennie & Jerry Merritt

Below are links to a wealth of historical and genealogical information on many of Pensacola’s nineteenth century families.  The Session records of the First Presbyterian Church recorded the comings and goings of families as they moved into or out of the Pensacola area.  Often the records record where a family was headed or where they were coming in from.  The records also record a constant flow of members back and forth between the Methodist and Presbyterian Churches in Pensacola.  There are also birth records and a complete membership listing of the church as it stood in 1886.  There are hundreds of names along with dates and assorted comments pertaining to the families.  These data were recovered from the original records by Jennie and Jerry Merritt in 2002 and have been checked against other historical records to verify some of the names that were difficult to make out in the original records.
