Pensacola Gazette
Mar-Dec 1824

In the 1980’s, the West Florida Genealogical Society (WFGS) began a Newspaper Transcription Project. Many volunteers spent many hours laboriously abstracting and transcribing names and comments about individuals mentioned in old Escambia County newspapers. The project was not completed, so it was never published as planned. The transcriptions have faded with time and the handwriting is often difficult to read, yet new volunteers have attempted to bring some of this information to researchers on a very limited basis.

Ms. Betty Keller abstracted and transcribed the list of names and comments from the above named newspaper. Her transcription was copied and submitted to the USGenWeb site by WFGS member and former county coordinator and webmaster, Ginny Deagan.

This copy has not been double-checked for accuracy; therefore, you should not use it as a primary source. To help find the location and availability of microfilmed copies of Escambia County newspapers, visit the Florida Newspaper Project website.
