° Census Transcription
Project
The membership voted to undertake
a project to transcribe the 1830-1920 Escambia County Census schedules.
The project is ongoing and needs volunteers to copy
pages from the census microfilm,
enter the information into a spreadsheet format,
and proofread. The final product
is a transcribed census available in a printed publication,
or online.
If you are willing to volunteer for this project, contact Jerry
Merritt, Project Chairman. See the results of this project in Publications.
° Funeral Home Records
Project
Many members of the WFGS are
working as volunteers with the West Florida Regional Library to index surnames
to the Fisher
Pou Funeral Home Records
dated between December 1926
and August 1979.
° The Escambia County
Heritage Book
Project Chairperson Cynthia
Dean, phone (850) 432-7072 , or e-mail,
reports that the Heritage Book is in process. There is still no definite
delivery date, although hopefully it will be before the first of the year.
We are told to expect what has already been described as an awesome
publication!
° Inventory Update of WFGS-WFRL
Genealogy Collection
Members of the WFGS and community
volunteers at the West Florida Regional Library have worked hard to update
the inventory of the combined genealogical collection of the WFGS-WFRL.
All that remains is compiling the database, in
which volunteers are currently
spending many hours.
Point of contact: Judy
Jolly, Chairperson.
