More than 130 family burying grounds, community and church
cemeteries within the modern boundaries of Clarke County were located and
transcribed by dedicated members of the Society, and published in 1999. Oconee
County was split off from Clarke County in 1875 and those cemeteries were
transcribed and published by the
Clarke-Oconee Genealogical Society (COGS).
Detailed driving directions and map locations are given for
each cemetery. 391 pages, hardbound, full-name
index, maps.
PLEASE NOTE: This volume does NOT include
Oconee Hill Cemetery (the old section is now published separately,
volume II of the new section is being compiled),
East Lawn, Hillcrest, or Gospel Pilgrim cemeteries, or the modern memorial parks
of Athens Memorial Garden (west side - Atlanta Highway) and Evergreen Memorial
Park (east side - Lexington Road).
