After a courtship of ten years Mr. Herman Johnson and Miss Leannie Crosby were united in marriage at the home of the bride's parents in Baxley on Monday evening at 8 o'clock, Rev. G. N. Smith performing the ceremony in the presence of a few friends and the immediate family.
For the past two weeks Miss Crosby has been the operator at the Baxley Telephone Exchange. Being quite pretty and possessing an amiable disposition she was not long making many new friends among all classes for the local telephone system. Herman had never taken any great amount of stock in telephones or telephone calls until Miss Crosby assumed control of affairs around central and then that fog-horn voice of his could have been heard over the line at any hour of the day.
The groom is a son of Mr. J. C. Johnson, and holds a position here with the Southern as clerk. He is a young man of splendid business qualifications and is well and favorably known. Because of the young groom's timidity his father has very kindly consented to cable the happy event to his comrades in the Philippine Islands and in Cuba.
