Bill (William Lloyd) Holton, loving husband, father,
brother and friend passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2005
at the the of 80 at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center
in Dublin, Georgia.
He was born in Alma on March 2, 1925, to the late
Willie F. and Lydia (Music) Holton. He lived and
worked in central Florida for many years, and returned
to Alma in 1989. A decorated WWII veteran, who saw
combat in the Pacific, he was honored by his hometown
of Alma when a street was named for him.
Bill was a member of the Alma (10th Street) Church of
God, the American Legion and the Veteran’s
Administration.
He was preceded in death by his
brothers, Buddy (Floyd) Holton and Talmidge Holton.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Irene Simmons
Holton; brothers, Monroe and wife, Viola of Altima
Springs, Florida, Fred and wife, Mary of Sanford,
Florida and Ronnie and wife, Jackie of Lakeland,
Florida; sister, Willa Mae and husband, Eugene Lewis
of Alma; son, William Lafoy Holton and wife, Teresa of
Wintergarden, Florida; daughter, Brenda Gail (Susie)
Stuckey of Orlando Florida and stepchildren, Richard
Porter and wife, Inez of Pelzer, South Carolina, Allan
Porter and wife, Cindy of Easley, South Carolina, and
Gina and husband, Jim Kern of Rochester, New York.
Several grandchildren and great grandchildren and
numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 11, 2005 in
the Crosby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rex Simmons
and Rev. Mark Grimes officiating. Burial with military
honors followed at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Crosby Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
