Kizzie Cole Tanner, age 88, of Alma passed away late
Monday, February 13, 2006 in the Baptist Village
Nursing Home after a short illness.
She was a native of Bacon County and daughter of the
late Levi Screven Cole and Mary Ann Meeks Cole.
Kizzie was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard
Julian (L.J.) Tanner; four brothers, Phillip, Walter,
Bill and Norman Cole and four sisters, Bertie
Williams, Cleo Vickers, Nealie Lee and Fannie Tanner.
She was a member of Campground United Methodist
Church.
Survivors include one son, Jack Tanner and wife, Laura
of Alma; one daughter, Ann Gillis and husband, Conway,
Sr. of Waycross; one sister, Wilma Lee and husband,
James Luther Lee of Alma; five grandchildren, Georgia
Ann Rodriguez and husband, Andy of Lavonia, GA, Melody
Lynn Boatright of Alma, James Conway Gillis, Jr. and
wife, Loretta of Waycross, Anna Witte and husband,
Stephen of Atlanta and Tot Jefferson Gillis of
Jacksonville,FL; 11 great grandchildren and a special
care giver, Kacie Disharoon survive.
Funeral services were Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at
3 p.m. at Campground United Methodist Church with Rev.
James Boyd and Rev. H. L. Pharr officiating. Interment
followed in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jamie Lee, Bucky Hayes, Pat
Tanner, Wallace Cole, Jerry Mims and Walter Peacock.
All those in attendance were considered honorary
escorts.
Crosby Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
