James Bryant Ammons, *CSA*enlisted as a Private March
1, 1862 in Waynesville by Major T.S. Hopkins and Major Clinch into service for
the length of the war. It wasn’t
long before he was appointed Sergeant, Company A, K, 4th Clinch Georgia Cavalry,
Confederate States Army.
He was born February 17,1 827, and died November 2, 1891, the
son of Sherod Sheffield and Jane Ammons, was buried at High Bluff. He was
married to Catherine Robinson.
