WIGGINS PEOPLE CEMETERY
This cemetery was donated by
Joseph Sinclair Wiggins as a burial place for African-American people that
worked for his family in the Waynesville area. Joseph Sinclair Wiggins was
an Attorney At Law in the Glynn County Circuit, and was very active in politics
for Wayne County, a State Representative, and Justice of Inferior Court.
He was also a Captain in the 3rd Battalion Georgia Cavalry, and the 4th Georgia
Cavalry during the War between the states.

: From the intersection of Hwy 82
and the Browntown Road at Waynesville, go 0.1 mile north, crossing the
railroad tracks. Turn right at
Mineral Springs Road (CR160).
Go 0.1 miles and the cemetery will be on the left side of the road,
behind the Confederate Park, in the north-west corner of the fenced area.
Note: The Wiggins People Cemetery should not be confused with the
Confederate Cemetery, in the front area, which does not contain any marked grave
sites. We solicit help in identifying the birth dates, death dates of the
following burials.
