1848 - 1922 

George Washington Crawford was born July 01, 1848 to William and Nancy Lee Crawford.  He married Caroline Corea " Cary " Taylor, daughter of Evan Taylor.  She was born September 30, 1845 and died January 17, 1915.  George died August 27, 1922. They are buried in High Bluff Cemetery near Schlaterville, in the west end of the county. 

George Washington Crawford enlisted at Macon, Ga., April 1864 in Company “I,” 11^th Regiment , Georgia State Troops.  He was at home wounded and sick with typhoid at the end of the war. 

Children of George and Caroline were:

1. Ivin Jackson "Jack", born June 17, 1871, died Aprill 22, 1944; He married Kate "Katie" Crews, daughter of Archibald Crews and Martha Griffin.  She was born March 17, 1881, and died August 24, 1955.  They are buried in High Bluff Cemetery .

2.William Harvey, born October 15, 1972 and died October 25, 1948, married (1) Martha M. Dowling, born May 19, 1875, died March 06, 1931; married (2) Susannah "Susie" Goodins.  They are buried in High Bluff Cemetery .

3. Zara Elizabeth, born November 06, 1884 and died December 16, 1972.  She married William Hardy "Hard" Thrift November 1931, son of Moses Thrift and Ardelia Lee.  He was born November 09, 1879 near Gum Swamp Creek, and died February 19, 1970.

Zara Thrift is buried in Oakland Cemetery, Waycross .  Hardy Thrift is buried in Piney Grove Cemetery .
