HENRY P. GRANTHAM, *CSA* 1840 - 1914

Henry P. Grantham 

Born 1840 in Georgia , died 1914, buried in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery near Waynesville , Georgia .  At the time of his death this was Wayne County , Georgia , now Brantley County , Georgia .

He was the son of Thomas James Grantham who was born in South Carolina and his mother was named Harriett (maiden name unknown) who was born in Georgia .

Henderson ’s roster, volume 3, page 468 lists H. P. Grantham with  the following: Private Sept. 9, 1861. Not later record.  This is from the muster roll of Co. F. 29 Reg., Ga. Vol. Inf., Army of Tenn, CSA, Chatham Co. Ga.   The Ga. Foresters.

 Source: They are shown in the Wayne County , Georgia Census in 1850, 1860, 1870. In the 1880 Wayne County Census he is listed as H. P. Grantham and head of household with his mother Harriett, age 80. Also there was a 12-year old female ward listed in the household. Contributed by:Dorothy Johns Thomas

Military service was research and a grave stone was ordered by Gaynell H. Sasser on September 2, 2004. Jerry Van Herrin placed the stone in place on  October 29, 2004
