Aaron Herrin enlisted February 9, 1864 Private at Camp Mercer; Capt. Clinch’s Battery, Georgia Light Artillery.  He was present through July & August 1864 absent, sick for September and October 1864.

Military service was research and a grave marker was ordered by Gaynell H. Sasser on May 26, 2004, and installed by Jerry Van Herrin on July 29, 2004.

 Aaron was born April 3, 1846 to Daniel Herrin and Jemima Ammons in Wayne County . Aaron married Esther “Easter” Minchew, December 14, 1865 , born July 23, 1848, daughter of Jacob Minchew and Sarah Walker, Aaron died February 28, 1905 ; Esther died July 7, 1914 .  Both Aaron and Esther are buried in Oak Grove Cemetery . Children of Aaron and Esther are,

 1) Minnie Lee Herrin b. September 19, 1875 d. February 20, 1919 ; m. John Caswell Kelly b. November 27,1866 d. April 10, 1934 , Minnie and John are buried in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery .

 2) Charlie C. Herrin b. February 10, 1878 d. June 26, 1906 , b. in Oak Grove Cemetery

 3) Sarah Jane Herrin b. July 28, 1879 d. May 9, 1911 , m. Benjamin J. Dryden b. November 7, 1878 d. September 14, 1974 , Sarah is buried at Oak Grove Cemetery and Benjamin is buried in Mars Hill Cemetery

 4) Callie Herrin b. 1882 b. in Oak Grove Cemetery

 5) Mable Herrin b. December 24, 1883 d. March 2, 1911 m. Ivan Taylor Hickox b. August 29, 1877 d. October 4, 1950 Ivan was the son of Jonathan David Hickox and Lucinda Jones.  Mable and Ivan are buried in High Bluff Cemetery .

 6) Abraham Preston “Presh” Herrin b. 1885 d. 1922 m. Minnie Idell Dowling daughter of Perry Dowling and Susan Dryden, she was b.1889 d. 1940.  Abraham and Minnie are buried in High Bluff Cemetery .

 7) Lilla Herrin b. September 30, 1887 d. March 7, 1952 m. Leonard Leon Hickox b. December 22, 1872 d. February 7, 1964 .  Lilla and Leonard are buried in High Bluff Cemetery .

 8) Bessie M. Herrin b. March 21, 1891 d. March 29, 1938 m. Jesse Strickland, Bessie is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery .
