HIGHSMITH, *CSA*

Isaac Hampton Highsmith enlisted into the Confederate Army
as a Private on July 29, 1861, assigned to Company C, 26th Regiment Georgia
Infantry and was later appointed Sergeant. Having been elected to a Civil
Office he was discharged on March 16, 1864.
Isaac Hampton was born December 28,
1825 to David and Annis Highsmith living in Wayne County, Georgia. Isaac Hampton
married Sarah Ann Lewis October 7, 1849, daughter of Jesse Lewis and Millicent
Bryant Lewis. Sarah was born
November 18, 1830. Isaac died on June 8,
1884 and is buried in Robert Lewis Cemetery. Children
of Isaac and Sarah Ann were:

married Theodocia “Dora” Riggins in 1877, b. May 1, 1858 d. March 14, 1910.
Newt and Dora are buried in Rob Lewis Cemetery.
4) Millie E. Highsmith b. December 12, 1855 d. 1891,
m. George W. Highsmith 1878; b 1836
5) Curtis H. “Curt” Highsmith b. December 8, 1857 d. October 27, 1926
m. Arra Ann “Arrie” Smith m. January 31,1883 daughter of George Smith and
Sarah Warner Smith b. August 4, 1861 d. May 30, 1945.
Curt and Arrie are buried in Smyrna Cemetery.
6) Matilda Wealth Highsmith b. July 29, 1861 m. Jack
Gardner
7) David Warren Highsmith b. September 8, 1861 d. October 26, 1896 m. Emma
Malissa Herrin January 11, 1883 d. December 12, 1929 daughter of Daniel Herrin
and Jemima Ammons Herrin. David and
Emma are buried in Oak Grove Cemetery.
8) Mary M. Highsmith b. April 9, 1864 m. Joseph B.
Barber
9) Frances Victoria Highsmith b. March 25, 1866 d. February 17, 1925 m.
Sherrod F. Louis Herrin b. September 4, 1859 d. December 27, 1947. Sherrod was
the son of Daniel Herrin and Jemima Ammons Herrin.
They are buried in Oak Grove Cemetery.
10) Leighton Highsmith b. February 25, 1868 d.
October 29, 1929; m. Laura Willis b. April 18, 1870 d. October 24, 1943;
Leighton and Laura are buried in Smyrna Cemetery.
11) William Tell “Bill Highsmith b. November 3, 1871 d. February 9,
1931; m Mary Elizabeth “Mollie” Strickland, January 20, 1924; b. April 1,
1883 d. June 6, 1963. Bill and
Mollie are buried in Smyrna Cemetery.
