JAMES McKINNEY JOHNS *CSA*

James McKinney Johns was born 15 Jan 1847 in Charlton County and was the eleventh child of Jeremiah and Mary Ann McClellan Johns.   He enlisted in the Confederate States Army on 29 July 1861 and was in Company C, 26th Georgia Infantry. He was shown to be absent (sick) on 28 Feb 1862. No other military record was found. However, record show that he was married to Catherine "Kate" McQuaig in Camden County on 3 Apr 1881. James died October 19, 1887 and Kate died March 9, 1876. They are buried in Oakland Cemetery in Waycross.

Military service history was researched and the stone was ordered by Gaynell Sasser, and installed by Jerry Van Herrin. Tombstone will be relocated to Oakland Cemetery in Waycross.
