WILLIAM FLEMON JOHNS - *CSA*

William Flemon Johns

 

 

William Flemon Johns was born on 15 Aug 1832 in the Bachlott community of what is now Brantley County, Georgia and was the son of Jeremiah H. Johns and Mary Ann McClellan Johns. He married Gracie Ann Brooks who was born on 27 Mar 1837 in Florida and was the daughter of John and Mary Ann Gay Brooks of Traders Hill in now Charlton County. They had one son, Joseph Bryant Johns who was born 23 Apr 1858.

He is shown in Henderson’s Roster of the Confederate Soldiers of Georgia, as 3d Corporal from Aug 15, 1861. He was wounded at 2d Manassas, Va., Aug. 30, 1862. He is listed as a Private in 1864. He was killed at Drewry’s Bluff, May 16, 1864.
