RUSSELL RAULERSON *CSA*

1815 - 1899

Russell Raulerson (CSA) was born October 18, 1815 and died March 12, 1899 , son of Jacob and Nancy (Baggs) Raulerson. Russell married (1) Lydia J. Waldron, Sept. 17, 1835 daughter of Oliver and Ann (Sylvester) Waldron. She was born Jan. 15, 1815 in Liberty County, Georgia and died Mar. 09, 1875. He married (2) Mary Taylor May 17, 1876, born April 18, 1836 and died Nov. 25, 1899. He married (3) Sarah Ann Hagin Dec. 02, 1886 in Wayne County; She was born 1820, and died 1915. Russell is buried at Raulerson Cemetery in Pierce County.

 

 Russell Raulerson enlisted into the Confederate Army on September 29, 1863 as a private in Captain Hendry's Company, Mounted Infantry (Pierce Mounted Volunteers. The date of his separation from service is not known.

 

Children of Russell and Lydia Waldron:

 

1) Jasper Newton, *CSA,* was born Sept. 27, 1836; died Mar. 04, 1920; married (1) Frances Thornton, daughter of George and Mary (Moody) Thornton. She was born February 28, 1835. He married (2) Irene Knight, born February 15, 1835. Jasper, Frances and Irene are buried in Raulerson Cemetery, Pierce County, Georgia

 

2) Rhoda Ann, born April 14, 1838, died January 15, 1924; Brantley County, Georgia; buried in Raulerson Cemetery.

 

3)  Sarah Ann, born Sept. 21, 1840, died December 06, 1923, married Ezekial M. “Zeke” Crawford, son of Ezekial and Margaret (Parmenter) Crawford, He was born October 4, 1843 and died February 11, 1901, Sarah and Ezekial are buried in Raulerson Cemetery.

 

4)  Frances, born March 04, 1841, died 1862, married Sherod Raulerson born abt. 1840.

 

5) Thomas Samuel, *CSA,* born June 04, 1842, died March 06, 1917, married (1) Nancy Roberson, daughter of Stephen and Margaret (Bennett) Roberson. She was born February 11, 1846 and died July 26, 1902. Married (2) Mrs. Mattie McCullars born abt. 1845. Thomas and Nancy are buried in Raulerson Cemetery.

 

6) David, b. March 13, 1844, died December 13, 1846.

 

7) Indiana, born March 07, died January 02, 1937, married Ranson “Rance” Roberson. They are buried in Raulerson Cemetery.

 

8) Leonard Leslie, born August 09, 1847, died April 26, 1896, married Harriet Bennett born March 20, 1857, died December 31, 1931; They are buried in Ramah Cemetery, Pierce County, Ga.

 

9) Altamira, born February 01, 1849, died April 13, 1892, married James Riley Dowling, son of Aaron and Sarah (Winn) Dowling, she was born March 18, 1851 and died August 25, 1914. They are buried in Raulerson Cemetery.

 

10) James Russell, born November 23, 1850, died July 19, 1942, married Rachel Bennett daughter of Richard and Rachel (Westberry) Bennett, born March 08, 1851 and died August 16 1931. James and Rachel are buried in Mars Hill Cemetery in Brantley County, Georgia.

 

11)  Catherine V., born July 31, 1853, died 1865

 

12) Asbury Wade, born December 10, 1855, died October 03, 1891; married Matilda Roberson, daughter of Stephen and Margaret (Bennett) Roberson, Matilda was born April 17, 1854 and died August 08, 1912. They are buried in Raulerson Cemetery in Pierce County, Georgia.

 

13) Jacob E., born January 30, 1881, died March 25, 1899.
