Sorry about the
previous post re: Jessie Gunn and Eleanor
Hudson. They married 1802 in Granville
County, N.C.
In 1801 March court #148 was the settlement
of the estate of Fielding Lewis. Legatees
James, John, Feilding and Zacahriah Lewis
and Gabriel Gunn.
# 159 Inventory of the estate of John Gunn
dec. by G. A. Gunn
# 178, the same year, the estate sell of
John Gunn by Gabriel Gunn.
12/1805 Rec. of Gabriel Gunn 27.16 for work
at the grave yeard of John Gunn and Mary
Gunn, his wife.
Sept Ct. 1806 from G. A Gunn concerning
dower of his wife alloted her from real
estate of her late husband Fielding Lewis,
Dec 14 1805.
Person Co. tax record Book 4, Tax for 1805
Gab. Gunn for James Lewis 27 1/2 acres
Gab. Gunn for James Lewis 22 1/2 acres
To further complicate matters there is a
will for a Thomas Gunn filed in Person Co.
1796. I do not believe it was probated.
Thomas Gunn. Names brother Daniel, Gabriel,
minor, wife was left land in
> Halifax Co. Virginia on Childers Creek.(
She is not named.) A JESSE Gunn signed the
will of
> Thomas. Interestingly it looks like a
Ruben or Rubek Gunn signed as witness. I
have no idea who this Thomas Gunn could be.
The will is in Person Co. N. C. and Person
County's documents are not in the N. C.
archives. Anyway we have a Jesse, an adult
in 1796 and a Gabriel who is a minor in 1796
from this will.
Interesting that Daniel Gunn who died in
1825 Jones Co. Ga, wife Susan
> Street supposedly entered service in
Granville Co. N. C. a Jesse Gunn signed
> as witness for their marriage 1786.
Which Jessie signed as witness for Susan
street and Daniel Gunn.
Any comments welcome as I plan to get to the
N.C. Archives soon and have a look at the
above Jesses, Gabriels and Thomas Gunn and
Lewis family. The Fielding Lewis line had
ties back to George Washington as a Fielding
Lewis married into the Washington Family. |
