Bowden Family Cemetery
Lithia Springs (Douglas County), Georgia

This family cemetery is on the north side of Bankhead Highway, just west of its intersection with Thornton Road.
It is across Bankhead from the Bowden home, between Parkview Church of God and a small car wash. The cemetery
was cleaned down to bare ground in October 2008, revealing previously undetected graves under decades of leaf litter.
There appear to be thirty-five graves laid out in five rows: Row 1 (the westernmost row) Six graves without even un-inscribed fieldstones to mark them, just very obvious equally spaced depressions that when
probed with a tile probe prove to be burials. Row 2 Two un-inscribed fieldstones Double marker for: John Bowden (h/o Mary Bowden) Mary Bowden (w/o John Bowden) Born December 30, 1825 Born June 17, 1829 Died February 3, 1891 Died July 10, 1878 (This marker was in the cemetery in February 1998 but is now gone.) One grave (depression) with un-inscribed footstone only Two un-inscribed fieldstones Row 3: Box tomb, very large, un-inscribed, appears to be double grave Un-inscribed fieldstones (both head and foot) Un-inscribed fieldstone (foot only) Box tomb, inscribed on top for Sarah White, some sort of verse that is no longer legible Four un-inscribed fieldstones Martha Ann Eugenia Miller Born 1857 Died 1888 Row 4: One un-inscribed fieldstone Sarah M.
