Kennedy-Brittain Cemetery

This family cemetery is in Winston, two miles north of Bankhead
Highway on Mann Road. It is on the right side of the road and has
an iron gate flanked by brick columns. The cemetery is rectangular
in shape with five rows of graves and a total of 30-35 graves. There
is a dirt roadbed that encircles it, and there are additional
fieldstone marked graves that lie in the woods beyond that roadbed.

Two other slave names are known: a woman named Looky who was born
circa 1789, and another young woman known as Matilda who was born
circa 1826. It is not known if they are buried in the cemetery or
perhaps in the graves outside the perimeter road.
