Phillips Family Cemetery
Located Banks Mill Road, Douglas County, Georgia

This is the family cemetary of the Hiram Columbus Phillips
family. To get to the cemetary, take Ga. Hwy 5 south from Douglasville
approximately 8 miles. At Prays Mill Baptist Church and cemetary,
turn right at Banks Mill Road. The old Phillips family home and
the cemetary is at the N. E. corner of the intersection of Banks
Mill Rd. and Giles Rd.(right side) The graveyard is located between
the old house and a brick home,east of the old house, and is
now on private property that is no longer in the Phillips family.
The only marked grave is that of Columbus's wife, Martha. Per
my conversation with the present day owner of the property, there
is a possibilty that there are several other unmarked graves
at the site. Columbus and Martha were my great great grandparents,
so I was very excited to find this cemetary. I do have some information
on this family. Martha's grave is marked with a good size headstone
with the following information:

DIED AUG. 12, 1862
AGE ABOUT 31 YEARS
