County Line Primitive Baptist Church, Campbell
(which later became Carroll) County, Georgia
County Line Primitive Baptist Church was organized in July
1830 in Campbell County, Georgia. It was located in a
section which was part of southwest Douglas County from 1870-72
and part of southeast Carroll County afterwards.
Records on microfilm, Georgia Department of Archives and History,
Atlanta.
The first clerks were Lemuel Wilkerson and Elijah C. Garrett.
The first association delegates were Benjamin
Lassetter, James Strawn and J. Barker (or Barber). The first
preacher was Israel Hendon, whose service was briefly
interrupted in 1831 when Moses Kelly served. D.B. Head and J.B.
Head served as clerks in the late 1830s, followed by M.
Garrett. Some members who are not shown on the following rolls
but are noted in the church minutes, include Kirby
Goolsby (1838), John Lambert (1831), Thomas Thrower and wife
(dismissed 1831), John Griffin (1836), James D. Powell
(dismissed 1838), and Abel O. Embry (clerk in 1840). Some, but
not all, of the names below date from 1830.

July 24, 1830
First conference of County Line Church, Campbell County,
Georgia. Received by letter, James Strawn and Martha Strawn.
Choice of delegates to Association by ballot. Elected Bro.
James Strawn, J. Barker (Barber?) and Benj. Lassetter.
Agreed on one dollar for minutes. Committee appointed to
select a place for meeting house. They had selected one but
was advised to look again. Elijah C. Garrett, Clerk.
Nov. 26, 1830
Took up reference of last meeting and selected a place for
meeting house. Resolved that we build our meeting house on
lot 67 in the 3rd. district of Carroll, now Campbell County,
Ga. Also agreed to build one 20 ft. by 27 ft. E. Garrett,
Clerk.
