Thomas Glover PARR married Susan ROACH, daughter of Alfred ROACH, in 1878 in Cherokee Co. Their daughter Claudia PARR WHITMAN died March 09, 1928. The funeral notice said the funeral would be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glover PARR, Canton, GA Glover is not listed in the 1920 Cherokee Co. census. When did Glover die? When did Susan die? Where are they buried? Have not been able to locate either in the death index. Thanks, Joan

BASS, COOK, LYON, LYONS posted by Bill Drake on Sunday, November 16, 1997

We have received data that answers the query that we proposed in October, regarding BASS, COOK, and LYONS. Our John B. LYONS was a farmer and there was no connection to doctors, one of which was a John A. LYON. A close spelling but not the wrong person.

BASS, COOK, LYONS, WARD posted by Bill Drake on Sunday, November 16, 1997

There is still one question that we have come up with a blank on, but I'm not too sure it lends itself to the query system. In the 1840 census of Cherokee County, there is a Bedden Bass, He is 20-30 with a wife of the same age. He has three young girls, two under age five. If, according to her death certificate, Elizabeth was born in 1839, she would have been just one year old at the census. In the 1850 census, there is an "E. BASS" which refers you to the W. WARD family. At the end of the WARD family there is "E. BASS female white 14 yrs." That sounds like Elizabeth BASS, who would have been about 11 and a review of her death certificate from Tennessee reveals her father was a BASS and her mother was a WARD, both parents were born in Georgia.

So, our query would be what disaster killed the father, mother, and two sisters of E. BASS between 1840 and 1850. Disease, indians, or natural disaster? From 1850, on we have good data on Elizabeth. Her brief marriage to John B. LYONS, her child Albert Repon LYONS, and her later marriage to Gilford COOK. The death of her family is a mystery. Thanks so much. Bill Drake :)

KELLY, WATKINS, WEHUNT posted by Karla Kelley-Cardell on Sunday, November 30, 1997

Looking for further information on any of the following WEHUNTs. George W. WEHUNT, b. 26 January 1846 in Georgia, m. Avey Evaline KELLY, daughter of James and Emily WATKINS KELLY, on October 6, 1869 in Dawson County, Georgia. Avey was born January 4, 1854, probably in Lumpkin County, Georgia. George and Avey WEHUNT are buried in Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery in Ballground, Cherokee County, Georgia. George and Avey WEHUNT's children according to censuses were:
Lucinda, b. August 1870 prob in Lumpkin County
Margaret, b. c1873, prob in Lumpkin County
Sarah J., b. c1874, prob in Lumpkin County
James L., b. 1876-1878 either in Georgia or Tennessee (1920 Cherokee County, GA census states Tennessee)
William, b. c1879 prob in Lumpkin County
Burt, b. c1881 in Georgia
H. Wade, b. c1886 in Georgia
I first found George and Avey WEHUNT in 1870 Lumpkin County, Georgia with daughter, Lucinda. In 1880 they were still in Lumpkin County with 5 children. I'm not sure where they were in 1900, but by 1910 they were in Cherokee County, Georgia, Mullins District #818. George WEHUNT died in 1915 so he would not be on any 1920 census. However, I do not know when his wife Avey died (death date not on headstone), but wonder if she or any of her children can be found on the 1920 Cherokee County, GA census. I am interested in talking with anyone regarding any of the lines of this family. An aside, George WEHUNT's father is listed as being born in North Carlina, his mother in Georgia, but I don't know their names at this time. Thank you for any information you can share.

KELLY, WEHUNT posted by Karla Kelley-Cardell on Sunday, November 30, 1997

James L. WEHUNT, b. 1876-1878 in either Georgia or Tennessee (leaning towards Georgia), m. c1899 Samantha nee ?, b. c1872 in Georgia. This is Samantha's 2nd marriage, James' first. James L. WEHUNT is the son of George W. and Avey Evaline KELLY WEHUNT. James L. WEHUNT is found on the 1910 Cherokee County, Georgia census, Mullins District #818, living next door to his parents. James and Samantha's children are:
dau. Maria, b. c1900 in GA
dau. Theora, b. c.1905 in GA
dau. Jessie, b. c.1907 in GA
and son, George, b. c1909 in Georgia
I believe there was a 5th child for this couple, but he/she must have died before 1910, probably a child in between Maria and Theora. I have no further information on this family. They may be in the 1920 Cherokee County, GA census. Please write if you have further information on this line of WEHUNTs.

May have later moved to Cherokee Co. AL. May be buried at Walkers Chapel near Birmingham, AL. Any help or ideas appreciated.
