Mrs. Elizabeth Nipper Adams

A well-known Coffee County lady, Mrs. Elizabeth Adams, age 77, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away Friday, June 13, 1975 at the University Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida following an extended illness.
Born Jan. 4, 1898 in Coffee County, Mrs. Adams was the daughter of the late Calvin Nipper and Sarah Ellis Nipper. She was the widow of the late Riley Adams and member of Chatterton Holiness Baptist Church.
She had been a resident of Jacksonville, Fla. for the past four years and was formerly of Douglas.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, June 15th at 2 p.m. at the Chatterton Holiness Baptist Church. Rev. Lester Rowe and Rev. E. J. Kirkland jointly officiated. Interment followed in the Chatterton Church cemetery.
Providing special music were Mrs. Lena McQuaig, Mrs. Barbara Burkett, Miss Sandra Freeman, Mrs. Marjorie Smith and the Mann Kirkland Trio.
Pallbearers were grandsons: Earl Adams, Van Adams, Al Adams, John Adams, Carroll Merritt, Austin Merritt, Bill Compton and Vernon Lee.
Mrs. Nipper is survived by her step-mother: Mrs. Viola Nipper, Douglas; four daughters, Mrs. Lula Lee, Atlanta; Mrs. Marie Norton, Center Hill, Fla.; Mrs. Vera Compton, Jacksonville, Fla.; Mrs. Virginia Merritt, Center Hill, Fla.; six sons: W. C. (Sarge) Adams, Douglas; Harvey Adams, Douglas; Paul Adams, Donaldsonville; Amos Adams, Decatur, Ala.; M-Sgt. Eugene Adams, Elgin Air Force Base, Fla.; Jerry Lee Adams, Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers: Wright Nipper, Douglas; Jesse Nipper, Atlanta; four sisters: Mrs. Aleph Smith, Nocheette, Fla.; Mrs. Lula Kinard, Okeechobee, Fla.; Mrs. Pearlie Molton, Pahokee, Fla.; Mrs. Estelle Adams, Douglas; two half-sisters: Mrs. Mary Deen Sullivan, Jacksonville, Fla.; Miss Ruby Nipper, Thomasville; two half-brothers, Edgar Nipper, Okeechobee, Fla.; Morris Nipper, Vanceburg, N. C.; 46 grandchildren; a large number of great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
Sims Funeral Home of Douglas was in charge of arrangements.
