Age 86 of Douglas, Coffee Co., Georgia, passed away on Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at her residence following and extended illness.
Mrs. Chaney, a native of Jeff Davis County, Georgia was born Oct. 15, 1916, the daughter of the late Berian Madison Music & Martha Melinda Taylor Music.
Mrs. Chaney was a homemaker and a member of Chatterton Holiness Baptist Church, Nicholls, GA.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Daniel (JD) Chaney of Douglas, GA.; 3 daughters, Jeanette Westbrook of Caledonia, MS., Wilene Smith and Melinda Carver, both of Douglas, GA; 2 sons, Alton Chaney of Frankfort, KY. and Norman Chaney of Douglas, GA.; 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Sunday Oct. 5, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gene Chaney and Rev. George Carroll Paulk officiating.
Ronnie and Sharon Chaney and Family sang 'Stroll Over Heaven' and 'I Want To Be Together In Heaven'.
Interment followed in the Chatterton Church Cemetery in Nicholls, GA.
Active pallbearers were Ernest Johnson, Albert Watson, Donald Phinazee, Charles Johnson, Ben Carver and Terry Davis.
Honorary pallbearers were from the Coffee Regional Hospital Hospice.
Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
