Mrs. Kathryn Bertie Goode Blankenship, 80, of Broxton, Ga., passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Blankenship, a native of Tift County, Ga., was born April 1, 1924, the daughter of the late Sam and Annie Bell Bryant Goode.
She was a homemaker, the widow of the late James William Blankenship, and a member of Providence Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Laverne Blankenship of West Green, Ga., Diane Howard of Broxton, Ga., and Brenda K. Stone of Pearson, Ga.; one son, James T. Blankenship of Douglas, Ga.; three brothers, Harold Goode, Sam Goode, and Edward Goode, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 9, 2004, at 2 p.m., at Providence Baptist Church, with Rev. Scott Smith officiating.
James Deen gave the eulogy.
Soloist Glenda Courson sang "Walk Around Me Jesus," The Providence Church Choir sang "Meeting in the Air," and Marlon Smith sang "I'm Going to Take a Vacation," with Georgiann O'Steen accompanying at the piano.
Burial followed in the Lone Hill Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Kevin Bullock, Anthony Brown, Brian Bowen, John Harrell, Anthony Busby, Blake Hersey, Donnie Ricketson, and Dudley Mobley.
Honorary pallbearers were Cliff and Linda Mobley, Pete Worth, David Hersey, Walter Whitaker, Marvin and Wanda Bookout, and Charles and Linda Lott.
Sims Funeral Home of Douglas, Ga., was in charge of arrangements.
