H. F. Brown Passes after long illness

Mr. H. F. Brown, prominent citizen died at his home here Saturday following a long illness.
Moving to Coffee County from Upson County forty years ago, he lived for years on his farm near Ambrose, later moving to Douglas to educate his children.
He took an active interest in the development of this section and for a time served as county tax collector, clerk to the county commissioners and was for a time city clerk, and later as justice of the peace. Twice married, he is survived by his second wife, the former Miss Rosa Collier, of Talbotton; four daughters, Mary, Sora and Ardis, of Douglas, and Mrs. Melvin Reese, of Greer, SC; one son, Astor Brown, of Tifton; four grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Carl Brown, of Macon; a son-in-law, R. M. Pearsall, Jr; three brothers, T. H. , of Ambrose, Rufus of California; Scott, of Cartersville; two sisters, Mrs. M. A. Bryan, of Atlanta, and Mrs. D. F. Baldwin, of Marshallville.
He was buried in the cemetery at New Hope Sunday afternoon, following services in the church conducted by Dr. C. R. Jenkins and Rev. S. L. Goldfinch.
