Mrs. T. H. Brown, mother of Mr. John H. Phillips, just reported, died on
Friday morning before her son was buried. She was about 60 years of age and
in feeble health, and it was thought that the shock of her son's death
hurried hers. The funeral took place at New Hope Church, at the same time
of that of her son's, on Saturday afternoon.
She was married twice, and was the mother of six children by her first husband.
Five of them are as follows: P. P. Phillips and S. D. Phillips, of Ambrose, and Mrs.
W. J. Harris, of Douglas, and Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Jowers, of near Ambrose.
Mrs. H. F. Brown, deceased, was a daughter of the deceased.
Mrs. Brown had lived in the community in which she died for a number of
years, and everybody loved and respected her for the life she lived. She
had a host of friends, and was always ready to respond in any way to the
suffering of her neighbors.
