Mrs. Janie Mae Youngblood Butts, age 94 of Nicholls, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at the Bacon County Hospital in Alma, Georgia. Mrs. Butts, a native of Coffee County, Georgia, was born July 15, 1909, daughter of the late Sim and Linnie Spivey Youngblood. She was a homemaker and the widow of George Washington Butts. Her church membership was at Chatterton Holiness Baptist Church. Survivors include Daughters: Dorothy (Bill) Whiddon of Gaston, South Carolina and Mildred Hersey of Alma, Georgia; Daughter-in-law, Shirley Butts of Douglas, Georgia; Step-sisters, Ora Harper of Douglas, Georgia and Dora Deen of Fernandina Beach, Florida; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 22 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. A son, Edward Butts, preceded her in death. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 20, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Chatterton Holiness Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Chaney and Rev. Robert Tanner officiating. Brandy Owens gave the Eulogy. Faye Adams, Carolyn Wright and Chris Adams sang, ______. Burial followed in the Chatterton church cemetery. Active pallbearers were Melvin Douglas, Eddie Butts, J. C. Morris, Rodney Whiddon, Dody Hersey, and Cady Hersey. Sims Funeral Home of Douglas was in charge of arrangements.
