Mr. F. P. Cady, an old and highly respected citizen of this community, died at his home near Leilaton last Friday night.
He was born in Macon County, Georgia. June 6, 1848, and was well into his 76th year. Mr. Cady came to Coffee County into the part now Atkinson County, nearly sixty years ago.
He was twice married. His first wife, to whom he was married more than fifty years ago, was Miss Lydia Parker, a daughter of the late Dr. Calvin Parker, of Leilaton. She died about twenty years ago, then Mr. Cady married Miss Laura Anderson, daughter of Mr. Luke Anderson, of near Douglas.
Mr. Cady is survived by the following children by his first wife: Mr. William Cady, of Willacoochee; Mr. Emanuel Cady, of Waycross; Mrs. H. H. Fielding, of Kirkland; Mrs. C. N. Fielding of Kissimmee, Fla.; Mrs. Chester Parrish, of Waycross; Mrs. Gus Davis, of Adel; Mrs. DeWitt Overman, of Ray City; Mrs. G. M. Howell, of Valdosta; and Miss Lilla Cady, of Douglas. Mr. Cady had another daughter by this union, Mrs. Monroe McCranie, who died at Howell, Ga., in 1909. Surviving him by his second marriage are his wife and five children, Eleatha, Laura, Frank Jr., J. B., and Dan.
Mr. Cady was a good man, a good neighbor and a good, dependable friend. He had been a faithful and consistent member of the Methodist church for more than sixty years. He lived his religion into every hour and into every act of his life. He has gone to the Court of God; he will be judged and rewarded as a good and faithful servant. He will find his house in order, and on that last great day of days, when Jesus comes again in His glory and magistracy, to make up His jewels, Mr. Cady will be one of them.
Respectfully, Jefferson Wilcox.
