Mrs. Alma Carver, 50, Laid To Rest Friday
Funeral services were held at the Nicholls Baptist Church Friday afternoon, Feb. 26 for Mrs. Alma Carver, 50, of Nicholls who passed away at her home, Feb. 24 following a brief illness.
A native of Coffee County, Mrs. Carver was the daughter of J. W. and Mattie Kirkland Gibson. She married Grady Carver.
Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Rhoan Sweat, Nicholls, and father, J. W. Gibson, Hilliard, Fla.; three sons, Herschel Carver, Quiness Carver and Dianne Carver of Nicholls; two brothers: J. L. Gibson, Perry, Fla., R. H. Thompson, Waycross and one sister, Mrs. W. T. "Doc" Cady of Douglas.
Active pallbearers were L. S. Farley, Quitman Batten, Albert Caves, Homer Patten, Robert Rawlins, and Hoke Rawlins.
Honorary pallbearers were Melton Purvis, Daniel O'Steen, Allen Kirkland, Oscar McCaldon, Charlie Morris, and Wesley Burton.
The Rev. Henry Sears and Rev. Cecil Thomas jointly officiated and the church choir furnished the special music.
Interment was in the Meeks cemetery and with Sims Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
