W. G. Carver, 81, Dies On Sunday At Local Hospital
Walter Garfield Carver, 81, died Sunday morning, June 4, at the local hospital following a short illness.
He was a Pearson resident. Funeral services were held at the Pearson Assembly of God Church Tuesday, June 6, with the Rev. Mrs. Stella Giddens, Sister Eva Carver, and the Rev. Talmadge Hutto officiating.
Interment followed in the Sweetwater Cemetery.
Survivors are his wife: Mrs. Voannie Rollins Carver; 3 daughters: Mrs. Gussie Estelle Herrin, May Day; Mrs. Odessa Beasley, Douglas; Miss Ethel Aline Carver, Pearson; 7 sons: Harley Carver, Pearson, Marvin Carver, Douglas, Colon Carver, Wildwood, Fla., Russell Carver, Augusta, Alvin, Tommy and Leon Carver, Dallas, Texas.
2 sisters: Mrs. Minnie Nettles, Manor, Mrs. Alice Burch, Axson; 4 brothers: Ken Carver, Axson, Rob Carver, Waycross, Calvin Carver, Fernandina Beach, Fla., Sam Carver, Valdosta; 30 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were grandsons: Carlos Carver, Eugene Carver, Buddy Beasley, Nevin Carver, Garland Beasley, W. C. Herrin.
Honorary pallbearers were: Sam Roberts, Hardy Spivey, DoDo Corbett, Henry Wadell, Ellie Morris, John Williams, H. W. Morris, Marshall Lang.
