Mrs. Estelle Merritt Corbitt, 85, of Corbitt Road, Broxton, Ga., passed away Sunday, September 15, 2002, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga., following an extended illness. Mrs. Corbitt, a native of Coffee County, Ga., was born October 16, 1916, the daughter of the late Elisha and Linnie Carver Merritt. She was a retired seamstress and the widow of the late Andrew Jackson Corbitt. Survivors include: three sons, Ken Corbitt and Emory Corbitt, both of Broxton, Ga., and Ricky Corbitt of Lyons, Ga.; two daughters, Betty Hursey of West Green, Ga., and Linda Bush of Broxton, Ga.; three sisters, Jessie Mae Merritt of Broxton, Ga., Helen Wills of Bristol, Ga., and Edith Buffington of Ambrose, Ga.; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at the Reedy Branch Baptist Church near Broxton, Ga., with Rev. Dan Weniger officiating. Soloist Wayne Fales ________. Interment followed at the Reedy Branch Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Andy Corbitt, Chris Corbitt, Josh Cobitt, DeWayne Hersey, Jason Williams and H.E. Nelson. Sims Funeral Home of Douglas, Ga., was in charge of arrangements.
