John Hiram "JH" Davis

Mr. John Hiram "JH" Davis, age 68, of Evans Mobile Home Park, Douglas, Georgia passed away Tuesday, September 22, 1992 at Coffee Regional Hospital following an extended illness.
Mr. Davis was born in Jeff Davis County, Georgia on April 7, 1924, the son of the late John Hiram and Annie Lott Davis. His employment was as a clothescutter at a local sewing factory and his membership was at Trinity Non-denominational Church.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Cothern Davis of Douglas, Georgia; three sons: Jerry Davis of Ambrose and Terrell and Michael Davis of Douglas, Georgia; three sisters: Annie Mae Harper of West Green, Georgia, Thelma Stevens of Douglas, Georgia, and Lillie Mae Barnheart of Parkersburg, West Virginia; two brothers: Quitman Davis of West Green, Georgia, and Allen Davis of Waycross, Georgia; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 P.M., Thursday, September 24 at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home in Douglas with the Rev. Sime Morris officiating. Special music was provided by Mann Kirkland, Larry and Patsy Spivey as they sang "It's A Long, Long Journey" and "I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You" with Lois Mills accompying at the organ. Interment followed in the Lone Hill Church Cemetery near Douglas.
Active pallbearers were: Ronnie Merritt, Johnny Knight, Jimmy Carl Davis, Tommy Stevems, Buddy Stevens, and Roscoe Davis. Sims Funeral Home of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
