Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Bethany church near Broxton for Mrs. Boice Day, wife of J. H. "Henderson" Day of Broxton following her death at the family home Saturday at the age of 72.
A life-long resident of the county, Mrs. Day was a member of Bethany church. The Rev. Henry Sears, assisted by the Rev. Henry Abbot, conducted the funeral services and special music was furnished by the Buchans and Matthews quartette.
Survivors include her husband, J. H. Day, five daughters, Mrs. Johnnie Carver, Broxton, Mrs. Viola Mobley, Wray, Mrs. Hoyt Hope, Mrs. Talley Purvis, and Mrs. T. M. Purvis, Ambrose; seven sons J. Youngie Day, Allen Day, Earnest Day, and Lebron Day, Ambrose, George Day, Broxton, Homer Day, Wray, Eston Day, Fitzgerald; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Swilley, Ambrose, and Mrs. Henry Batten, Douglas; 53 grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren.
Grandsons including James Home Day, Edward Day, Adron Day, James Day, Leroy Day, Cecil Day, and Emory Carver served as pallbearers.
Interment was in Bethany cemetery with Sims Funeral Home in charge.
