EDWARD "ED" DAVIS
Mr. Edward "Ed" Davis, 71, of Nicholls, Ga., passed away early Thursday morning, July 11, 2002, at his residence following a brief illness. Mr. Davis, a native of Nicholls, Coffee County, Ga., was the son of the late Hiram L. Davis, Sr., and Callie Elizabeth Gainey Davis. He was a retired mechanic, a member of the American Legion, VFW, a former member of the Kiwanis Club, a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a member of the Roxie Mae Methodist Church. Survivors include: his wife, Illa Bayless Davis of Nicholls, Ga.; one son, Edward C. Davis of Alma, Ga.; one daughter, Linda G. Silva of Douglas, Ga.; one sister, Genettia Duncan of Nicholls, Ga.; 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other relatives. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday July 13, 2002 at the Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home, with Rev. Jerry Campbell and Rev. Rodney Courson Jr., officiating. _________. Interment followed in the Roxie Mae Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers were: Andrew Corbitt, Chad Ellis, Chase Davis, Joshua Corbitt, Joel Davis, Steve Silva, Harry Schermerhorn, and Matthew Hersey. Honorary pallbearers were: Wendell Sasser, Christopher Corbitt, Alfred Taylor and Paul Hersey. Ricketson Funeral Home of Douglas, Ga., was in charge of arrangements.
