Mr. Willie Herschel Carver
79, of Sixth Street, Jackson, Ga., passed away Sunday, September 15, 2002, at Spalding County Hospital in Griffin, Georgia.
Mr. Carver, a native of Coffee County, Ga., was born July 09, 1923, the son of the late Grady and Alma Julia Gibson Carver. He was a retired equipment operator of the City of Douglas, Ga., having worked 20 years in the Department of Public Works and a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include: his wife, Eleanor Lawson Carver of Jackson, Ga.; two sons, Joe Larry Carver and Donald Grady Carver, both of Douglas, Ga.; two daughters, Herschelleen Hartley and Beth Varnedore, both of Douglas, Ga.; one sister, Dianne Jowers Miller of Titusville, Fla.; step-children, Joyce Holsey and Jeff Lawson, both of Jackson, Ga., Doris Faulk of Jonesboro, Ga.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at the Sims Funeral Home Chapel, Douglas, Ga., with Rev. Marshall Adcock officiating. Soloist _________. Interment followed at the Douglas City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were John Carver, Larry Royal, Anthony Kirkland, Curtis Harper Jr., Vernon Ricketson, and Mike Hosey.
Honorary pallbearers were Douglas City Employees.
Sims Funeral Home of Douglas, Ga., was in charge of arrangements.
