The man in the photograph is presumed to be James Emanuel Pearson. We have no other photographs of him, so I cannot confirm his identity but it is very likely to be JEP. He was the son of Charlie Pearson (of Sweden) and Sarah "Sallie" Oliver of Reidsville, GA.

James' sister, Nora Patrice Pearson married Matilda Mae's cousin, Manning Tanner.
