COGS is a society of people that love Genealogy and Family History Research. COGS is your local learning place. We can assist you in your quest to discover your roots with attention to the highest standards in the genealogy field. Turn your solitary research into a collaborative effort. Learn from others, attend programs, field trips, and make friends that will enrich your ability to search your family's history with accuracy.

At each meeting you will meet fellow researchers seeking family and ancestors, not just in Clarke County or Oconee County, GA, but in regions all over the US and the world. Spread the word, bring a friend. Today is the day to find out something new about who you are. It is fun, friendly and you are guaranteed to find fascinating information. No prior experience is necessary!! Researchers of all ages are welcome. Simply attend a meeting and find out what COGS is all about.

COGS News

The November 2014 COGS Quarterly was emailed to members on November 30th. The Quarterly is 35 pages long, has live links, and is filled with genealogical information and local records. If you did not receive your copy, please email COGS and let us know. Not a member? Click the Join button on the menu bar above.

The deadline for submitting material for the next edition is February 1, 2015, but we encourage you to email your submissions early! This might include articles to assist others with their genealogical research or personal stories of genealogical or historical value.

Many Clarke County probate records are available free online at FamilySearch.org. Visit our Court Records page to see which records have been indexed by our members to make these records more accessible! If an external index is not available, look for an index within each volume.

We need YOU! Volunteers are needed to help COGS continue to be the wonderful organization that it has been since 1987. Please consider volunteering to help make our organization even better. Let us know about your talents and willingness to help.

Support COGS! For an annual membership fee of just $15 you will receive a quarterly newsletter and notification about all of our programs. Your dues are also used to help pay honorariums for speakers, purchase resources for local libraries, and offset costs for special events and preservation of historical data. COGS membership provides a wonderful opportunity to talk with and learn from others who share your interest.
