Transcribers notes: The "A" pages of the 1840 census include only full names of the head of each household. Others living in the household are listed as male or female, and within certain age groups. Free blacks are also listed by gender and age group, no names. The "B" pages contain the slave schedule portion of the census. Since these two pages are not side-by-side, it was almost impossible to transcribe them with any certainty, so I chose not to transcribe them.
