Joseph Koger was an ordinance officer in the Mexican War. He married Louisa Bates in 1851 in Tennessee. They came
to Georgia just before the War Between the States. Joseph was a Superintendent at the Augusta
Powder Works. The Augusta Powder Works was the principal supply of gunpowder for the
Confederate Army.
