JACOWAY   SHOOK   SMITH
I am looking for information on the JACOWAY family of Dade county. In particular,
information on Nina JACOWAY, daughter or William Ussery JACOWAY and Mary
SHOOK. Nina married Charles Clifford SMITH, Sr. of Ft. Payne, Dekalb Co., AL. I
know that Nina died around the same time as her daughter (name unknown) and that
they had a son, Charles Clifford SMITH, b. 1904, in Ft. Payne. (So, she must have died
1904 or after.) I found her and her birth family in Dade county (Trenton Township) in
the 1880 census and estimate that she was born around 1876. In particular, I'm looking
for information on her birthdate, marriage date, or death date, but would be very interested
in any info on this JACOWAY line in general. (Or the SHOOK line.) Thanks.

Next SMITH JONES   SMITH
I am trying to find my ggrandmother's parents. She was born around 1897. She
remembers that her mother was Indian and maybe her dad was white. The story was
that her father killed her mother over another man. No one knows for sure, yet. Somehow
she was left at a mining camp. She was to stay at a house on the camp and whoever lived
in the house was to take care of her. She remembered being with a few different families
before John and Pearl Smith moved into that house. John was known as Fiddlin John. He
always played the fiddle and he made them also. They didn't have any children yet but I
believe Pearl was pregnant then. When they left, they took my ggrandmother with them.
I know for sure that in 1900 they were in Grundy Co. TN and in 1902 they were in Orme
TN, where their first child was born. By the time their child was born, they had my
ggrandmother already. John worked in the mines and they moved around a lot. They
lived in GA too but I'm not sure exactly when. At one of those camps, they got my
ggrandmother. Her name then was Redy or Rudy and her parents names, she
thinks, were either Jim or Tom and Martha Jones. Has anyone ever heard of a story like
this? Or of any kids being left at mining camps?

2001 BRYAN   COOPER   OYLER   PARIS   WIGLEY  WISENER
Several researchers in the Wigley line are trying to connect the Wigleys of Dade Co. GA to
the remaining decendants now residing in Jackson Co. AL. My Gr-Gr-Grandfather Jackson
Wigley, son of John Wigley and Polly Wisener, went off to fight in the civil war with his
brothers, Daniel, James H., and Marion Francis Wigley. Oldest brother Joseph had
already gone to TX before the war. All brothers came back alive and one at a time
migrated across the county and state line to Sand Mt. By 1882, all brothers and families
had moved on to TX except Marion Francis. We would like to make the connection to
William J. Wigley m. Julina Paris. 1859. Also J.M. Wigley m. Mary E. Bryan 1880; Mary
J. Wigley m. Smith Oyler 1883. And who is John Wigley living with Peter Cooper in 1900?
Peter Cooper is the father of or a relation to the scores of Coopers who married to the
Wigleys in Jackson Co. over the last 100 years. Any decendants of the above Wigley/Cooper
families who could help us connect them up with Marion Francis Wigley or his parents John
and Polly. Thanks.

June 22, 2002 HARRIS   LONG   MILLER
I am looking for information on my husband's Miller family. I have learned that there is a tie between Dade Co., GA Millers and a Miller family from Monroe Co., TN. My husband's Miller line is said to be from Sweetwater, Monroe County, TN and I am wondering if there is a connection. I have three brothers, all b TN: Drury b 1822 who married Julia Long b 1822 or 1832 AL - they were in Pickens Co., AL by the 1860 census; A.L., my husband's 2great-grandfather; and William Lewis b 1811 who probably married Priscilla Harris of Monroe Co TN. Priscilla may have been married to A.L. prior to his death. We find William Lewis and Priscilla in Screven Co., GA in 1870. William died in 1873, naming his brother Drury and his brother A.L.'s children as his heirs. The children listed with him in 1870 plus several others are described in the will as the children of his deceased brother A. L. of Screven Co., GA. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated.
