Located:
Bankhead Highway, Douglasville, Ga.

The following inscriptions were copied by Joe Baggett in February 1977. The small cemetery is adjacent what was then the Solid Rock Baptist Tabernacle, now the one-room West Douglas Chapel of God, on Bankhead Highway west of Douglasville, .5 mi. west of Bright Star Road at the quarry entrance.

Mary, wife of John Ergle, April 18, 1825-July 16, 1881

Ella Ergle, April 9, 1871-March 3, 1917

(All above names on one obelisk)

T.E.(?) Hix,  Oct. 17 (?),1823- June 2(?),1874 (broken)

J.T. (or J.E.) Hix, Oct. 12, 1843-May 27, 1864

Rebecca Hix, wife of Reverend J.T. Hix, April 18, 1848-March 14, 1880

W.V.(?) Hix, Nov. 18, 1858-Jan. 28, 1889

About 14 unmarked graves, most infants; three marked “Infant sons of Rev. and Rebecca Hix.”

(Note: Census records show that John Ergle, formerly of Lexington District, S.C., was born in 1815, not 1811. His wife was Mary Price of Lexington District. The Hix markers, made of a concrete-like material and painted with white paint, are almost illegible.)
